Nestled between the Elysian Park hills and the hills of Echo Park, Silverlake, Downtown, Los Feliz, and pretty much just centrally located in LA, you’ll find Neighborhood Salon, established 2010: a boutique atelier art and individual salon business space.

Ava Shire, a third-generation Echo Park native, strives to create a space that embodies vibrant energy for both stylists and guests.

For as long as I can remember I’ve loved all things hair. So when I decided to leave my teaching job it was the obvious choice. As a stylist, my goal isn't just to make you look amazing leaving the salon but to give you the techniques and product knowledge to achieve great hair every day. I’m thrilled to be a part of the talented Neighborhood Salon team and working in Echo Park, the neighborhood I call home. Whether you’re ready for a bold new look, need a fresh cut or style, or are looking for low-maintenance lived-in color, I’ve got you covered.

MASTER STYLIST

Since I was 14 years old my friends would ask me to do their hair. I would come to school with stripes of green and blue, all over yellow, what we now call vivids, braids, purples, pinks, blonde you name it. My dad’s friend was a stylist at Sally Hershberger at John Frieda’s and he would come over for dinner every Monday. We called it Teddy night. He saw talent in me and suggested I do hair since I also love anything creative. It’s now I been 22 years licensed. I’ve had Neighborhood for 14 years. Wow. I’ve trained under some of the best in all the techniques assisting 3 years before taking clients as a stylist; just the beginning my 24 year career doing hair. I am currently training Brenda P., our licensed junior stylist. She is taking haircuts under my tutelage. Please inquire or schedule a haircut with us or just me.I am sorry but I do not do clipper cuts, just mens haircuts. I was raised and have grown up in a creative background on both sides of my family. I do think it helps me in doing hair. I specialize in wash and wear, but I do a lot of vivid color, fun color placement, and highlights, ALL OF IT!!! I can also do that updo. I try to fit your look to suite you and your lifestyle. How much time do you want to put into it, let’s consult, it’s most important in your appointment and hairstyle success. Yay!

Logan

STYLIST

Logan is a non-binary stylist who is excited to join the Neighborhood team! A NELA local since 2015, they specialize in hand styled, air dried, and lived in cuts that are easy to wear, but also love doing vivid colors and balayage as well as gender affirming haircuts. When they aren’t in the salon, you can find them at home in Highland Park with their pets (one dog and five cats!), tending to their edible garden, baking bread, or making crafts.

Hi I’m Brenda a proud Latina, born and raised in LA with a passion for hair. I’m a Paul Mitchell Phase 2 graduate, trained in advanced cutting, color, and styling techniques. I am dedicated to helping clients feel confident and beautiful. I like taking my time to produce an excellent outcome that will suite you, your lifestyle, and upkeep and needs. I love a little hair adventure! I am sorry, but I do not do clipper cuts, only mens haircuts with scissor. I can’t wait to meet you and have you in my chair!
